Simple Steps: The Basics 101.03
Just Around the Corner Tiles
In today’s Basics 101.03 let’s talk about design with a triangle and finishing touches.
We will look at the power of a triangle with our Jumbo Corner Tiles and Corner Tiles Die set of 12 that make a nice addition to frame out a photo or create a strong design on your page. Together, both dies make using multiples convenient quick easy and creating a design on a page a real breeze.
Pattern #311, a pinwheel pattern, will highlight 4 photos, a journal block, colorful patterned paper and cardstock tile blocks. The Jumbo Corner Tiles paired with a 1×3 tile in a medium aqua color emphasizes the pinwheel pattern. The smaller corner tiles in colors to match the mats frame my photos. I have mine applied out to the edge of the mat, but they could also be put on the photo at the corner for another look. Additionally dies from sets A and C for the basic shapes in the pattern.
It’s March so I thought I’d start with a fresh Spring Green Mosaic Moments Grid paper and a bold patterned paper. The patterned paper is double-sided with a bold bright Alphabet block pattern and the second side that is a green and white stripe. The paper is Little Man by Lori Whitlock for Echo Park.
I’ve used red, medium aqua, and grapefruit bliss for mats and tiles. The striped green and aqua tiles were cut using the Jumbo Corner Tiles Die. The center block mat is in the striped green patterned paper.
I thought about adding more corner tiles but I liked the strong visual pinwheel I had and the playful look it gave, just perfect for my boy! The bold colors add to the page, but if a more retro feel was desired black photo corners could have been used.
We can forget some of the touches that the old scrapbooks had, like photo corners for attaching your photo. Now we have the option of creating decorative details using them and choosing the colors and styles to enhance our pages.
For the journal block a chipboard letter painted navy was used to coordinate with the letter block style paper and sets the spot off like a storybook page. Teletype font was used in the journaling.
So whether you use the Jumbo Corner Tiles to create a design or pattern on the grid or the smaller Corner Tiles for dressing up photos you will enjoy the many options you have for the simple or complex designs.
