Flowers for Mother’s Day
Happy Mother’s Day! The features this week are Royal Purple Grid paper, with flowers from the 8 Petals Set and the Oval Frame Set. Pattern #204 a symmetric pattern is the base I’ll begin with to tell this Mother’s Day Story.
While honoring our own mothers is what we traditionally do, this layout I’m doing today is to honor my youngest daughter, Elizabeth, the mother of my two granddaughters, Emmi and Cecily, she deserves a bit of recognition for the wonderful job she does as wife and mother. I want her to know that I see that, appreciate it and am proud of the woman she is becoming.
I have begun with Pattern #204 on our Royal Purple Grid Paper, the 8 Petals Set and Oval Frame Set. I’ve included some patterned paper and several shades of purple grid paper. For a fancy alphabet for the name I used Spellbinder’s Victorian Letters with three layers of letters for a nice beefed up appearance. Memory Box’s Chesapeake Scrollwork die provides my green work. Finally, I’ve added Liquid Pearls and pearl embellishments to finish things off. (Lavender Lace, Buttercup, Lemon Chiffon, Bisque, Avocado)
I’ve used the 1” sq. flowers that match the single flowers in the ovals set. I have used the solid base from the ovals set to fill in the background of each of the 1” squares and several of the flowers in the spray. Some flowers are base only others the lacy cutout alone.
I have two blocks to use to tell my story. A long strip across the top is where I’ve placed the patterned paper. The 1” squares in the pattern have the 5 Petal Set flowers mounted on white tiles.
The side photos are mounted on cardstock and the center 4×6 photo is framed with the oval frame.
One of my “Story” blocks includes a portion of Proverbs 31 where the description of a virtuous woman is shared. We’ve talked about incorporating elements of our faith into the stories we tell in our scrapbook pages, this one relates to a good wife and mother.
The second block is my short story for Libby. I wrap some of the greenery and flowers around these blocks to draw them into rest of the layout. The white of the blocks helps to balance the white in the header block. I did play around with the idea of adding a small floral spray at the top, but decided against it in the end.
There are many choices for floral embellishments as 1”squares, 2×2 and 1×3’s to add to your layouts to choose from our store. Be sure to put the ones you have to work on a page to honor the mother in your life you admire or try something new!
