In today’s Simple Steps: Basics 101.04 let’s talk about…creative journaling with multiple journal spots using the new 3×3 Corner Tile Dies.
Most layouts that you create with your vacation photos you will want to add a few details of the places, people and events occurring on your trip with some journaling. In this layout you’ll see one way to create multiple journaling spots with the new 3×3 Corner Tile Dies.
Pattern #361 is a mostly squares pattern that could just as easily be considered a pinwheel pattern as the photo spots radiate around a central square. This basic pattern allows us to put together a layout quickly and by using the 3×3 Corner Tiles we’ll create unique triangle journaling spots for adding lots of details.
Additionally, Die Sets B and C have been used to cut the photos and mats for the layout. Die Set B was used to cut 4 squares in white cardstock for the journal block bases. Die Set C cut each of the photos to fit the grid pattern.
The Corner Tiles are cut from the patterned paper “Cosmic Sky” from The Paper Studio for Hobby Lobby. It’s a nice starry sky that fits the theme of a Space Center adventure. A Blueberry 12×12 Mosaic Moments Grid Paper matches nicely.
The triangles have been applied on top of each white square and arranged on the page so that the white cardstock sweeps up and to the right like a shuttle launch! Each tile carries a portion of the story about the day and each of the photos.
This die adds a bit of interest to your page with just a simple choice of color cardstock or patterned paper. As a journal block it’s a little bit of uniqueness and only one way to use this new die to brighten up your pages! Be sure to add it to your collection!
