Windsor Die Looks Great with Patterned Paper

Image

"Yard Work - 2015" by Paije Potter - Pattern #144

Windsor die is great for pattern paper lovers - paper helps keep your design look less busy.

Paije used two different patterned papers on this scrapbooking layout. She filled corners of the Windsor Die with the plaid purple patterned paper. The same paper was also added to 1x1" squares -- tying the whole page together.

Notice how the blue floral photos were placed diagonally in the Windsor dies which form a hour glass shape in the center.

Use the Windsor to Highlight the Details

"Visiting William & Mary" by Jodi Benson - Pattern #467

Use the Windsor dies to highlight little details - Jodi highlighted interesting items around a campus.

Jodi filled each design spot with a unique photo. The lines of the die give your eye a break in between each photo. It's not overwhelming and looks amazing. Jodi placed patterned paper in all of the triangle shaped places in the Windsor dies. The dark paper adds contrast, and helps you focus on the photos more.

This is another great layout for patterned paper lovers.

Make a Row with the Windsor Die

"Spring Flowers" by Jodi Benson - Pattern #707

Jodi placed her Windsor dies into a row at the bottom of her scrapbooking layout, and it looks great!

Notice how each pattern paper design in the Windsor dies was also placed in rows. Pattern paper was also repeated in the basic shapes, so the Windsor die design doesn't feel too bottom heavy or unbalanced.

Jodi also made sure each of her photos in the Winder die row were similar to further balance her scrapbook page.

Fill the Windsor with a 4x6 Photo

Image

"Vail, Colorado" by Tami Potter - Pattern #707

The Windsor die can be filled with a 4x6 photos for a mosaic look.

On the far left and right of the Windsor dies are two 4x6 photos, and they make a unique mosaic look on the layout. Two other photos are cropped smaller to fill one section of the die. They blend well and look amazing in the Windsor die.

Tami chose to place embossed paper in the center to make a green hour glass shape with her Windsor die, but she also could've filled them with one or two more 4x6 photos.

This Layout Features: 12x12 Cloves Grid Paper from Harvest collection, Windsor Die set, Alphabet 3 and Numbers 3 sets, and the Basic Die Bundle.

Windsor Die Makes Boring Photos Interesting

"Adding Mulch" by Paije Potter - Pattern #706

These photos were not really 'special', but placing them in the Windsor dies make them look more captivating.

Paije's photos filled in the Windsor to create a "continuous" diamond design. You can use the Windsor dies to help tell a story - such as Paije told the story of getting new mulch for the yard.

Try using your mundane pictures for a Windsor die layout and see how fascinating they can look!

Change Up the Windsor Die Designs

"Explore Yellowstone" by Paije Potter - Pattern #431

You can place your pattern paper in different designs - such as the center triple diamond row shown here.

The very center of the largest floral diamond seemed a bit bland, so Paije added a sticker - you could add all sorts of other embellishments. She also created four outer diamonds with her nature and hiking photos. Paije placed a neutral colored patterned paper around the edges of the Windsor dies to keep the whole page from looking too busy.

There are so many different designs you can make with the placement of photos and patterned scrapbook paper - try this layout or design your own!

Place a Photo in the Center of Four Windsor Dies

Image

"Governor's Palace" by Jodi Benson - Pattern #431

Cut one photo to fit in the center "diamond" like Jodi did with her flower photo.

It makes a lovely mosaic focal point. Look at how Jodi placed her paper pieces - the burgundy paper makes a "diamond"shape and helps your eye rotate around the page.  Her pink and green also evenly rotate around layout -  taking your eyes all around the page.

Do you have a photo that would make a great center diamond mosaic on the Windsor dies?

Create Photo Mosaics with Windsor Dies

Image

"Summer Gardens" by Paije Potter - Pattern #431

Paije used the same technique as the Vail, Colorado layout and created a 'mosaic' look in each corner of four Windsor dies with four 4x6 photos.

Her main subject photos go around the page in a diamond shape. She used pattern paper to emphasize that shape even more. She placed a floral embellishment in the center - notice the leading lines coming from the center. They draw your eyes to the center and out to the edges of the scrapbook layout. This uniform looking mosaic is what we call mosaic magic.

The Windsor die makes mosaic magic easy!
