6 Fun Ideas with the L Corners Dies

The L Corners die set is one of our favorites from the Cutting Corner series.

The L Corners set comes with a total of four dies: two 3x4 and two 2x3 sizes and the four dies reflect each other. They make excellent pages and there are many ways to use them on your layouts. Below we will show you how they work together and fit with your photos and other design elements on your layout.

We have seven great ideas for your L Corners dies that you can implement on your scrapbook pages immediately or save them for future projects.

1. Keep It Simple

When first trying to use the L Corners Dies try to keep it simple. Use the smallest 2x3 size and accent the corners of your center 2x2 photo. Use pattern paper so you don't have to worry about cropping anything to that small size.

This Layout Features: 12x12 Bleached Wood Grid Paper from the Dockside Collection, L Corners 3x4 & 2x3 Die Set of 4 (L2), Layering Die Bundle Colored A-L through E-L (L1), and the Basic Die Bundle A-E & 1" Grid - Colored (L1). Pattern Paper from Carta Bella™.

2. Two Unique Ideas

Try these two unique ideas:

The first idea is to use a texture photo for L Corner cuts, and turn them all around the page. This effect also frames the 2x3 photos in each corner of the page.

The second idea is in each 3x3 section you can make a unique design for your photo with the smaller L Corners. The very center of the photo with the people are cut into a 1x1 square, and the the rest of the photo is cut into two 2x3 L Corner shapes.

These are two very cool ideas that make an awesome page.

L Corners die cuts make an excellent frame, worthy of your center focal point.

Your focal point may be a photo, journaling, or a special design element like a 2x2 Cornerstone™ or other embellishment. You can use the same pattern paper for each L Corners or you can switch them up for more contrast and interest.

The L Corners can flow throughout your layout.

Place them all around the page for a seamless look around the corners of all your design elements. One key thing is to use the same paper for each cut so it appears to flow around the layout.

You can make two L Corners frames on your layout.

Make special frames around two of your favorite photos. You can use the L Corners to make four corners of a frame and then you can fill in the missing spaces. You can use pattern paper but you can also use texture photos like flowers or leaves. This is a great idea for when you have only a couple of photos or when you have had portraits done.
