Featuring the Triangles 2×5 Die
And Pattern #294 and #294 flipped
For this pattern pairing I was looking for patterns that would accommodate the Triangles 2×5 die. I was also considering a Year in Review theme as it’s been a few years since I’ve done one. In the end I decided I’d look no further than this pattern alone.

I’ve used this pattern before for a year in review in the horizontal with the filmstrip die.

Today to get all the photos included I’ve flipped the pattern to get the pattern to run in a continual up and down pattern across the two pages.

The pattern is divided into 5 columns with a 2×2, 2×3 and a 2×5 in each. I wanted to use the center 2×5 sections for my triangles die and to make it a spot for journaling. The top and bottom rows of blocks will hold my photos. I’ll get twenty in altogether. Each column represents one of 10 months from January through October. Each row holds two photos of people or events from January.
There are so many wonderful grid colors to choose from but I think we overlook black and white grids too often. I’ve used black grid paper this time. It is a great basic color to go to and for a festive theme like celebrating a New Year beginning and an old year ending it has lots of possibilities.

For the 2×5 triangles sections I’m going to rely on a mostly black and white color scheme with chalkboard journal spots and alternating patterned paper in black with white line drawings of vintage cameras. The die pieces are cut from white cardstock. Black cardstock and white gel pen will help to attain that chalkboard look.

My first choice was for silver dies sections. I had some issues with getting it to stick to the cardstock so replaced it with white. I overlaid the silver for a quick look.

Only ten months will fit into this format, but I’ve already covered November and December with more detailed pages with those events with more to come. So for me, this works just fine. You can adjust things to suit your photos and occasions with as many or few of the 2×5 die sections on your page.
Take a look back at this year’s events and see if this layout and this 2×5 Triangles die might not be the perfect match for remembering your year!
